When I first wrote about how to achieve that no-makeup makeup look, I promised to share my source list, so no gatekeeping here. Let’s get into it…
First, Start with a Hydrated Base
A fresh complexion begins with moisturized skin. Use a hydrating primer or moisturizer to create a smooth canvas. This helps makeup blend seamlessly and keeps everything looking dewy throughout the day. I love using an emollient skin protectant (more on that in another post) and have been slathering all over my face long before the slugging girlies made it cool.
Pro Tip: Choose lightweight formulas that sink into the skin without feeling greasy.
2. Even Out Your Skin Tone
Skip heavy foundation and opt for a tinted moisturizer or cream stick. I love using the Westman Atelier Vital Skin Foundation Stick for buildable coverage that feels breathable while evening out any redness or dark spots. I’ve also been loving their Vital Skin Care Complexion Foundation for lighter covering and that dewy glow that never settles in my fine lines.
Pro Tip: Apply sparingly—just where you need it—and blend with your fingers for a natural, second-skin finish.
3. Contour
Don’t be shy about it! With the right shade of bronzer, start right under your cheekbones near the edge of your smile and move upward towards your temple. I use Westman Ateliers Bronzer Stick in shade Biscuit. You’ll blend, blend, blend both the blush and bronzer in an angled upward motion to accentuate the cheek bones and draw attention to your eyes.
Pro Tip: Layer in some dewy highlighter drops to really amp up the glow like Westman Atelier Super Loaded Highlighter Drops in shade Peau De Ros.
4. Add a Pop of Cream Blush
A touch of blush brings life back to your face. The Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks Blush Stick in a soft pink or peachy tone gives just the right amount of healthy flush. My fav is Petal. You can set everything once blended with a powder blush and/or bronzer to really accentuate those beautiful cheek bones of yours.
Pro Tip: Tap it onto the apples of your cheeks and blend upward toward your temples for a lifted effect. This will make your face look totally snatched and fresh. Westman Atelier also has the most glorious set of makeup brushes to help with application if you’re not as nimble with applying by hand.
5. Finish with a Touch of Mascara and some Balm
Keep things simple with a swipe of mascara and softly filled-in brows. A clear brow gel or tinted one is great for brushing brows into place. A little mascara opens up your eyes while keeping the look subtle. I always love to add a shade of balm that’s super close to my natural lip shade to keep that natural vibe going, so pick something that makes you feel like you but elevated.
Pro Tip: Stick with brown mascara if you want an even softer, more natural effect. I find that mascara is suuuuuper personal, so choose what’s best for you!
